Comment Policy
Comments aren't open yet — they're coming, and when they are, this is the house rule they'll run on. The short version: be the mama you'd want in the group chat at 3am. 🤍
The internet has enough places where mothers get torn apart. This isn't going to be one of them, and the longer version below is just me being specific about that so nobody has to guess.
What's welcome here
- Questions. Including the ones you think are too basic to ask. Someone else is wondering the exact same thing and is too tired to type it.
- Your own experience. "Here's what happened in our house" is the most useful thing anyone can leave. Your version might be the one that helps the mama reading at 2am.
- Disagreement, said kindly. I'm wrong sometimes. If a product flopped for you, if my advice didn't fit your kid, if you found a better way — say so. "This didn't work for us, here's why" is welcome all day long.
- Corrections. If a fact in a post is off, tell me. See the Fact-Checking Policy for how corrections get handled.
- Encouragement. Never underestimate what a "me too, you're not alone" does for a stranger at midnight.
What gets removed
No warnings, no long debate. These just go:
- Cruelty. Anything mean about another commenter's parenting, body, family, home, or choices. Including the polite kind of mean — you know the one.
- Medical advice aimed at other readers. I'm not a doctor and neither is a comment section. Telling us what happened to your baby is great. Telling another mother to stop a medication, skip a vaccine, ignore her pediatrician, or try a dose of something is not — those get removed every time.
- Spam and self-promo. Affiliate links, "check out my shop," MLM pitches, coaching offers, and drive-by SEO links. If you have a blog you love, mention it in a real conversation, not as the whole comment.
- Anything about someone else's child. Don't name other people's kids, their schools, their diagnoses, or post photos of them. This includes speculation about my son. Luke didn't sign up for the internet.
- Private information. Addresses, phone numbers, emails, screenshots of private messages — yours or anyone else's.
- Hate. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, religious bashing, and the rest of that family. Instantly, permanently.
- Fighting to win. If a thread has stopped being a conversation and started being a scoreboard, I'll close it.
I remove things; I don't argue about them. If a comment of yours disappears, it's because of one of the lines above, and I'm probably not going to write an essay defending the call. Nothing personal — I just have a four-year-old and limited hours.
Parenting choices are not up for debate here
Breast or bottle. Crib or bedside. Epidural or not. Screen time, sleep training, working, staying home, one kid or five. Every one of those decisions gets made by a real mother with information you don't have about her body, her baby, her budget, and her life.
So: share what worked for you, freely. What you can't do here is tell another mother she's harming her child. That comment gets removed even if it's dressed up as concern, even if it's polite, even if you've read the study. There are entire corners of the internet built for that fight. This corner is for the woman who's doing her best and needs somewhere that doesn't make it harder.
I read everything. I can't reply to everything.
I want to be straight with you: I read every single comment, and I don't get to answer them all. Some weeks I'm behind by a mile. If I don't reply, it isn't a snub — it usually means someone needed French toast, or a bandaid, or me, right at that moment.
If something is time-sensitive, or personal, or you'd rather not say it in public, email me instead at [email protected]. Those I answer.
Housekeeping
- Comments may be held for moderation before they appear, especially a first-time comment or one with a link. Not a judgment on you — just how spam gets caught.
- Your email address is never published and never sold. See the Privacy Policy.
- Your words stay your words. I don't quietly edit comments to change what someone said — I either leave a comment up or take it down.
- By commenting, you're okay with your comment being displayed on this site. Want yours removed later? Email me and I'll take it down.
- Comments are opinions from readers, not advice from me, and not something I've verified. Please use the same judgment you'd use with any stranger on the internet, however lovely she seems.
That's it
Ask things. Say the honest thing. Be gentle with the woman typing next to you — she's tired too. And if anything here ever feels off, my inbox is open: [email protected]. ✦
